Immersed Virtual Environment Scenario Training (IVEST)

GEL’s IVEST application uses Mixed Reality to create and amalgamate real and virtually real environments. IVEST immerses humans and real objects in virtual worlds, exactly replicating physical attributes and convincing the mind of reality.

On entering an IVEST enclosure, the trainee’s body and limb locations are tracked and mapped to a Virtual Environment platform and displayed through a head-mounted display. Multiple trainees are networked for team scenarios.

Real environment objects and simulated weather conditions, located in the IVEST enclosure, allow a trainee to walk up and down stairs; operate and move large and small equipment; operate switches and buttons on control panels; operate levers; manipulate and deploy weapons and ammunition; all as if they were in a hostile or volatile situation or location.



Virtual and Augmented Reality is a media for presenting spatial data. The higher the accuracy of collection, analysis and display of mixed reality, the closer virtual reality becomes reality.

Multiple scenarios can be run, allowing a trainee to make mistakes, learn from them and add to their competence and commonsense prior to being released into a hostile or volatile environment, saving injury or possibly death.

Like any reproduction, there is always going to be someone or something that points out that it’s not real. Whether it’s a reproduction painting or fake banknote, a copy of the original is never going to be 100% authentic.
